Sing we praise to the Scholar.
Sing we praise to the Athlete. Sing we praise to the Artist. These are gifts which nature hath wrought. Duty calls on them to lead the way. Honor shines its light, guiding each day. Spirit carries them through all they do. And forevermore, they will join as one With those who've gone before and those to come. One dream governs them, hand held in hand, Peace and harmony throughout our land. Love and brotherhood for one and all. Let the music sound, let the earth resound With the truth that all mankind is sacred ground. Sing we praise to the Scholar. Sing we praise to the Athlete. Sing we praise to the Artist. Sing we praise, sing we praise!* "Paean to The Scholar, The Athlete and The Artist" was composed specially for the Scholar-Athlete Games of Rhode Island. The theme song was commissioned by the Institute for International Sport based in Kingston, Rhode Island. The recording was made on June 29th, 2001 by members of the 2001 WSAG orchestra. The chorus was directed by Chris Sheppard; the group was conducted by the composer. Words & Music by Richard J. Chiarappa |
